From very ealy in utero, the primitive reflex movements literally help to develop the brain. The movements develop the patterns of nerve networks and pathways that allow the connection of the various areas of the brain that are so important later on for sensory integration and development, learning, behavior, communication, relationships and emotional well-being.
These repetitive, automatic movements are also essential for the development of head control, muscle tone and become the basis of our postural, lifelong reflexes.
